Forward
Peter Dunn took study leave at the beginning of 2008, with the support and encouragement of his family, his parish and CTN.
Peter sought study leave because of his need for personal spiritual refreshment, a break from his parish ministry, and to deal with some unfinished business following a similar retreat in 2004.
Peter's study leave took the form of a 40 day and night (6 weeks) solo wilderness retreat at Lake Hauroko, in south east Fiordland. On the retreat he met a number of people at huts, and tracks, and found that each encounter had something to say to him. 32 of the 40 days were in complete solitude during which time "I was on my own out of my normal surroundings facing many challenges with no-one to turn to except the Lord and my own devices."
